MAURICE DOWNING

Minister Maurice Downing, singer, songwriter, preacher, speaker, worship leader, musician, educator and entrepreneur, is a native of Lakeland, FL. Since a young age, Maurice has ministered in churches, conferences, revivals and the like, born and raised a son of the United American Freewill Baptist Church. He began playing the piano at age 4 and called into the ministry at age 21, and since has become a sought after vessel who has yielded himself to the cause of Christ and the betterment of mankind across denominational and societal lines. 

He is a graduate of the great Bethune-Cookman University, where he was a part of the renown B-CU Concert Chorale, member of Gamma Beta Chi National Service Fraternity, Inc., along with other civic and social organizations. Additionally, Maurice will be the conferred the Master's of Education degree with a concentration in Education Leadership and Administration from Grand Canyon University in the spring of 2026. To date God has tremendously blessed Maurice to be an extraordinary songwriter. His repertoire extends far beyond his time and has been noticed by notable figures in the music industry across the country from his initial release of his debut album TRIUMPH in June 2012.

Maurice's abilities and creativity have afforded him the opportunity to share the stage with such artists as Trent Cory, Lace Taylor, VaShawn Mitchell, Jonathan Nelson, Mali Music, Blanche McAllister, Tasha Cobbs, Hezekiah Walker, his spiritual father Bishop Derek Triplett, along with credits to his name with the release of B. Chase Williams & Shabach's "Grace" performed by Maranda Curtis, “King Forever” performed by Marica Chisolm, “We Wait on You” & “Incredible God” performed by Patrick Williams & Unity in Praise, all written by Maurice and more releases to come. His humility and excellence in ministry has also afforded him the honor of being noted as an Artist to Watch by the 2014 Gospel Music Industry Round-Up. His latest single, Know You is available now on all digital platforms and his sophomore project, Live on Purpose is set to be released November 21, 2025.

Maurice serves in several ecclesiastical and civic capacities. He serves as the Senior Director of Logistics & Worship for the United American Freewill Baptist Conference, Inc. and as of 2021 he was appointed as Minister of Music of the National Convention of Free Will Baptists, USA. He has served as Minister of Music, Worship Leader, Music Director, Youth & Young Adult President, Director of Marketing & Branding and more. 

Minister Downing now resides in Houston, TX, serving as a College, Career, and Military Readiness District Director for Houston Independent School District, providing district leadership and empowering teachers and school administrations to assist high school students and families with post-secondary academic readiness serving all 50 high school campuses in the Greater Houston area. In his spare time he leads two self-owned businesses, MoDesignz Solutions, a sole-proprietor graphic design and branding company and MoMuzik Group, a music production company. He stands firm on the words of Paul, “Thanks be unto God who causes us to TRIUMPH and make manifest the savor of his knowledge in every place.”
